SAFE was founded near Bologna, Italy, and began its business by manufacturing hydraulic and hydraulic systems. In 1979 it made the first hydraulic compressor intended for the compressed natural gas (CNG) market, which was installed in New Zealand

SAFE starts production of compressors with higher powers and layouts designed for large-scale applications. Experience is consolidated in the CNG field, with supplies internationally.

With the introduction of the first containerized solutions, SAFE makes gas compression more flexible and compact. Global presence is strengthened and an ever-expanding sales network is born.

SAFE enters the world of renewable energy and biomethane, with specific solutions for agriculture and industry. The company consolidates its know-how in the energy transition.

Begins development of hydrogen solutions, with a dedicated range and strategic partnerships. In 2022 SAFE acquires Idromeccanica, strengthening its technological foothold in the compression industry.

SAFE celebrates 50 years of excellence and innovation in the gas compression industry. At Hyvolution Paris 2025, the company presents its latest technology solutions, including Hydrus and SW H2 compressors, reinforcing its role as a leader in the global energy transition

Mechanical machining and welding processes are carried out in-house by highly qualified personnel. Each stage meets strict technical and regulatory standards.

Assembly
Compressors are assembled by specialized teams who attend to every detail with precision craftsmanship. Manual expertise is supported by digital instruments and control boards.

Electrical wiring
Wiring harnesses are made in-house, ensuring consistency with wiring diagrams and reducing error margins. All switchboards are designed for integration with remote monitoring systems.

Testing
Each machine undergoes functional testing under real operating conditions. Testing takes place in an area equipped with certified instrumentation and constant monitoring of pressure, gas and electrical safety.

Quality is at the heart of the entire production cycle: from the initial inspection of materials to final testing. Every component is checked and tested to ensure reliability, performance and safety. Testing lasts an average of 4 hours and takes place in a specialized area certified for gas, pressure, and electrical hazards.
