Biomethane is obtained from the purification of biogas from which, through a filtration system, contaminants and CO2 are removed, resulting in methane with purities greater than 99 percent. SAFE technology combined with the experience gained in the US market contributed to the realization of this important example of decarbonization and valorization of urban waste FORSU/SSO.

The developed solution represents one of the biomethane compression systems with the highest capacity and installed power per single compressor produced by SAFE. A soundproof and weatherproof Microbox M8 module was provided, inside which a SW compressor was installed with direct coupling to the electric motor in addition to the control panel compartment made in a safe area. A complete compression module for biomethane grid injection that allows flexible management of gas flow and enables integration within the biomethane production system.
The compression system consists of a SW compressor capable of compressing gas from 10 barG to 50 barG, achieving a maximum flow rate of 4500 Nm3/hour. The flow control range (0%-100%) is achieved by VFD and recirculation line. The compression system has been equipped with pulsation dampers at the suction and discharge to the compressor, thus ensuring effective control of biomethane flow rate regulation. The compressor system is installed and integrated within a Microbox M8 metal enclosure specifically designed for the severe wind conditions experienced in hurricane-prone climatic areas. The structure so designed has also been certified to the ASCE7-16 standard.
